This Privacy Policy is meant to explain what information the Vanguard Initiative collects and how it will be used by its services. The Vanguard Initiative respects the privacy of its users and is the sole owner of the information collected on its website ( The protection of privacy of its visitors and users, including their personal data, is of great importance to the Vanguard Initiative, thereby reflecting the provisions of the Charter on Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular article 8 and article  16, respectively.

These Vanguard Initiative Privacy Policy is entered into by Vanguard Initiative Asbl (“Vanguard Initiative”) and the entity executing the Privacy Policy agreement (“visitors” and “users”). Please note that people who go to this website are hereinafter referred to as visitors whereas people who have an account are hereinafter referred to as users.


The Vanguard Initiative produces and disseminates a newsletter 6-8 times per year. For the purpose of the newsletter, the Vanguard Initiative will collect basic information such as name, country, and e-mail address of member region representatives and other interested parties who have requested to receive information about the Vanguard Initiative, its pilot projects or its meetings.

If a user agrees to provide these details, the Vanguard Initiative will use this contact data to send information about its services, and alternatively services and products of companies that participate in the Vanguard Initiative’s activities and not disclosed. The Vanguard Initiative knows that its users care how information about them is used and shared, and it appreciates their trust that it will do so carefully and sensibly. Data is used solely for the purposes of administering the Vanguard Initiative and its activities, and will not be shared  for other commercial purposes and will not be sold, rented, leased or forwarded to any third party without the consent of its visitors.

Every user subscribes with the full awareness that their personal data as defined above may be disclosed to other members.

The Vanguard Initiative uses Google Analytics to improve its own performance. Google Analytics, providing digital analytics tools “cookies”, gives insights of visitors’ and users’ behaviour on the Vanguard Initiative website. Furthermore, Google Analytics helps to process quickly and effectively a massive amount of data. When the Vanguard Initiative website integrates with Google services such as Google Analytics, it automatically sends certain information to Google. The information generated by the cookie about the use of this website (including visitors’ and users’ IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. This website has installed AddThis. It is now possible for any user to share publicly videos or other publications on the Vanguard Initiative website. AddThis on the one hand allows users to interact with the publisher’s content and on the other hand collects information from users as a result of their visit. This information does not directly identify an individual and is instead designed to identify the devices used by website’s visitors. If AddThis wants to know how many people shared content on this site, it can assign a randomly generated ID to each web browser and count them. Policy changes

The Vanguard Initiative may change this Private Policy. In case of change, the Vanguard Initiative will post the updated Privacy Policy on its website.

Vanguard Initiative intranet account

Only authorized members can log in if they want to share their files, read meeting reports or task group documents or see more relevant search results. However, the access to certain files is granted to certain stakeholders involved in the specific activities. When they create the account, they provide the Vanguard Initiative with personal information that includes their name and their password. The Vanguard Initiative also collects the content users create or receive from others when using its services.

The Vanguard Initiative uses information it collects, like users’ email address, to interact with them directly. The Vanguard Initiative may also let them know about upcoming changes or improvements to its services. 

It is also possible to request to remove the content from the Vanguard Initiative website. In addition, its services let users share files with others and they have control over how they share.

At any time users can delete any information from their account.
