ADMA Energy: Actions and priorities for 2021

The ADMA Energy Pilot action plan builds on the work carried out in 2020 and aims at presenting the expected objectives for 2021 in relation to the proposed project development. In 2020, ADMA partners selected three areas to progress to demonstration projects:

  • Power transfer in the Sea led by Scotland and supported by Basque Country, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy;
  • Joining of large-scale components led by Flanders and supported by Asturias, Basque Country and Scotland;
  • Next generation materials led by Asturias and supported by Basque Country, Dalarna, Flanders, and Lombardy.

Looking into 2021, the intention is to develop these projects further to address concrete industry needs which can result in long-term socio-economic impacts. Key building blocks of the Action Plan 2021 will include communication and networking activities to bring together stakeholders from the ADMA Energy Pilot regions to exchange about ongoing projects and activities and to foster cross-pollination, as well as continuation of the project areas Power transfer in the sea, Joining of large-scale components and Next generation materials. Specific objectives for 2021 include:

  1. Facilitation of demo case development: including Power Transfer in the Sea, Joining of Large-Scale Components, Next generation materials and further demo cases based on regional interest;
  2. Enabling costs for demo case development;
  3. Communication and dissemination (newsletter, website update, social media, etc.);
  4. Networking activities for cross-pollination (e.g., DOC-OFF, Offshore Renewable Energy Strategy, Interreg, across VI Pilots);
  5. Recruiting new regions to the ADMA Energy Pilot;
  6. Stable governance and management of finances;

Stakeholders and regions with an interest in these and other activities related to the ADMA Energy Pilot are invited to get in touch with the Pilot leaders, Scotland and Basque Country.

ADMA Energy: First 2021 Partners’ meeting on 19 March

On 19 March, ADMA Energy Partners came together for the ADMA Energy Partners Meeting. This meeting of the ADMA Energy Pilot focussed on progressing the ADMA Energy Action Plan 2021 by taking stock of the activities proposed, especially with regard to the demo case development as well as the next steps for 2021. The meeting also featured updates from the Vanguard Initiative, possible funding opportunities, as well as possibilities to explore further demo case areas in 2021.

In addition, as a part of the networking and communication activities outlined in the activities for 2021, a presentation was given by a project in which ADMA partners are involved, namely the OPIN project, which includes the participation of Scottish Enterprise and SIRRS. OPIN refers to the Ocean Power Innovation Network, which is an initiative running from 2019 to 2022 and takes place within Interreg North West Europe. The OPIN project delivers supports to encourage both cross-sectoral and cross-regional collaboration including symposiums, workshops, masterclasses, as well as Technology Assessment Processes to support companies in assessing technologies and furthering their development. For more information on the project, please visit: .  The ADMA pilot is now actively exploring the possibility to formally join the OPIN network as an international collaborative body in order to further strengthen the collaboration between ADMA and OPIN partners

The next ADMA Energy meeting will take place in May 2021. Stakeholders and regions with an interest in these and other activities related to the ADMA Energy Pilot are invited to get in touch with the Pilot leaders, Scotland and Basque Country.
