    The ADMA Energy pilot is currently advancing the development of priority project areas identified in 2019 and 2020 as new demonstration cases within the Pilot. During the ADMA Energy Partners meeting on 2 July 2020, regional stakeholders came together to discuss the status of the revised project development briefs and decide on a timeline for this year. These proposed project areas are, and will be, pursuing the development of project proposals for targeted funding in the second half of 2020 and early 2021 with the support of the ADMA Energy Pilot partners.

    EARTO and the Vanguard Initiative have elaborated a joint contribution to the second public consultation on targeted review of the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER). The signing organisations welcome the Commission’s proposals aiming at facilitating the combination of shared managed and centrally managed funds. This will help synergies, complementarities and a more efficient use of different funds to become a reality, avoiding overlaps and administrative obstacles.

    The latest updates from the Vanguard Initiative's Bioeconomy Pilot includes the launch of a new demo-case on biopolymers production. Through support from the Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), the Bioeconomy Pilot's demo-case on advanced and sustainable biofuels will also be able to strengthen its work on sustainable mobility, which is in line witht he European Green Deal.

    Over the last months, extensive efforts have been made to continuously adapt the 3DP Pilot activities to emerging industrial needs. This has led to the elaboration of new action lines and working principles. For instance, the launch of the '3DP Pilot Pitching Platform' was successful and led to the identification of 5 new promising collaboration areas outside the scope of the Pilot’s existing 5 demo cases currently under active development.     3DP PAN EU is the European Parliament supported project making transparent towards SMEs the equipment and service offer of 3D-printing test and demonstration facilities throughout the EU.

    On the 7th of May 2020, the 3DP Pilot held a succesful webinar focusing on the 3DP Pan EU Open Call. More than 60 persons participated in this webinar.

    On 24 June, the Vanguard Initiative organised the High-Level Directors’ Meeting 2020. During the meeting, the Directors welcomed the Vanguard Initiative’s newest member, Friuli Venezia Giulia, bringing the total membership to 37 regions. The Directors also engaged with speakers from the European Commission’s DG REGIO and DG GROW on how the Vanguard Initiative can support the EU’s green and digitalised recovery and the importance of interregional collaboration to speed up the economic recovery.

    The Vanguard Initiative supports the EU Industrial Strategy, published in March, as a strong basis for future work and paving the way for recovery and resilience of the EU economy, while embracing long term challenges and the digital and green transitions. In a new position paper, The Vanguard Initiative calls for a stronger collaborative dimension in the EU Industrial Strategy, to unleash the tremoundous richness and diversity laying in our regional ecosystems.

    As the COVID-19 crisis reaches new levels, the European Union is preparing to address an unprecedented post-Corona reality with the development of an EU economic recovery policy and a realigned Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF). In a statement published on 26 May, European regions and innovation stakeholders jointly call on the European institutions to use the EU Interregional Innovation Investment instrument to unleash the innovation potential available in Europe’s regions for Europe’s recovery.

    On 10th June, the Emilia-Romagna Cluster Network and ART-ER is organizing an online cluster-to-cluster meeting.

    The meeting will gather clusters from all over the world, aiming at exploring common areas of interest, activating new partnerships with clusters and other innovation actors and exchanging innovative models for cluster collaboration. The meeting will be a unique opportunity to meet high-level representatives of clusters and cluster experts to prepare the ground for practical cluster international cooperation and innovative projects.
