The Commissioner responsible for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, and his team from the Commission, together with the representatives of the 27 EU Member States and the 28 European experts in industrial policy selected by the Community executive discussed the activity carried out in the monitoring of indicators of the 14 European industrial ecosystems, the definition of itineraries to advance in the climate and digital energy transitions, strategic dependencies of the European production on certain products and the disruption of value chains, cross-border and cross-ecosystem collaboration opportunities and how to make use of the enabling character and competitive advantage of advanced manufacturing in the industrial ecosystems.
The debate has also focused on the relevance of technology as a geopolitical factor and the need to invest in Europe in cutting-edge technological infrastructures that facilitate the transfer of technology necessary to make European industry a world leader in sustainable production.
The preliminary programme for the event “EU Industry Days” was presented. The event is expected to be held in a hybrid format with face-to-face attendance in Brussels restricted to 500 people and will pay special attention to the 30th anniversary of the European Single Market, a relevant milestone in European policy that allows European companies to count on a local market of more than 450 million people.
