The project application of the 3D-printing Pilot Project to create a pan-European digital platform connecting all 3D-printing (3dP) demonstration facilities in the EU was approved last week by DG Grow. The project aims to foster awareness, knowledge and uptake of 3DP technologies by facilitating and promoting SMEs´ access to high quality services related to testing, validating and certifying 3DP solutions.

Firstly, an online interface will be developed to connect 3DP facility centres that provide services to SMEs in the fields of testing and validation of 3DP solutions. Several awareness raising activities to promote this interface, and 3DP solutions in general, will be carried out. Secondly, the project will support ten cross-regional industrial demonstration projects in different application domains. Thirdly, a long-term strategy will be developed to ensure the sustainability of the platform.

The project has a duration of two years and ten months and will start in January 2019. The consortium consists of five partners: Brainport Development, ASTER, Civitta, Asterion and IDEA Consult. IDEA Consult will be co-leading the project together with Brainport Development.
