Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Last Thursday, 16th April 2015, Mr. Wojciech Saługa, President of Silesia Region together with Mr. Marek Sowa, President of Malopolska Region have signed the Milan Declaration.

It is a confirmation of a strong political engagement of these two Polish regions, not only to the values and objectives of Vanguard Initiative, but most of all to the interregional cooperation and future economic development of Europe.

The occasion was even more special, as Mrs. Elżbieta Bieńkowska, European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs opened the ceremony highlighting her support for the Vanguard.

Signing of the Milan Declaration of the VI is an important step for Malopolska. A step toward an innovative economy, development and economic growth of our region as well as jobs creation. Edge technologies and smart specialisation are now the bottom-line concepts progress and modernisation – said Mr. Sowa, President of Malopolska Region.

Let’s not forget that the participation in the Initiative is not just a political declaration. It is a hard work of our experts and commitment of regional representatives, that are responsible for the smooth realization of VI goals – added Mr. Saługa, President of Silesia Region.

At the end of the official act, Jan Larosse, as Secretary of the VI and as representative of the Cabinet of the Minister-President of Flanders, Geert Bourgeois, highlighted the uniqueness of this particular partnership, based on the political commitment and lead-by-example attitude.

The signature of the Milan Declaration today, by the highest political representatives of Silesia and Malopolska, is more than symbolic. It reinforces the political commitment of these two dynamic regions and we are sure that it will strengthen the cooperation in the field, in the nascent networks of industrial pilots and demonstrators – he said.

Silesia and Malopolska would like to thank colleagues from the Vanguard Initiative that joined us on that special occasion in premises of South Poland House in Brussels!
