Industrial Modernisation and Interregional Collaboration in Europe: Conversation on the Vanguard Initiative

During the 12th International Exhibition on Industrial Research and competences for Innovation, Research to Business - R2B, in Bologna on June 8, Regional Minister of Emilia Romagna, Patrizio Bianchi, hosted a conversation on the Vanguard Initiative for industrial modernisation and interregional collaboration in the EU with Mr. Esa Halme, Region Mayor of Tampere Region and Mr. Peter Berkowitz, Head of Unit for Smart Sustainable Growth in DG REGIO.

Professor Patrizio Bianchi, Emilia-Romagna regional Minister for Coordination of the European Policies for Growth, Education, Vocational training, University, Research and Employment, hosted a conversation with Mr. Esa Halme, Region Mayor of the Vanguard Initiative member region Tampere and Mr. Peter Berkowitz, Head of Unit for Smart and Sustainable Growth in the Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy, interviewed and moderated by Mr Guido Romeo, the prominent journalist of Sole24Ore, the main Italian newspaper on economics and finance. The conversation gave an opportunity to discuss the innovative approach of the Vanguard Initiative, the European Commissions interest in the initiative, the EU support to interregional cooperation, and the future of advanced manufacturing and interregional collaboration to promote innovation and growth of European industry. The Vanguard Initiative and the collective action of European partner regions was at the core of the conversation as provider of a considerable contribution to the current debate on  both industry and cohesion in Europe.
