“DigiPrime – Digital Manufacturing Platforms for Connected Smart Factories” is a new project developed and successfully submitted to Horizon 2020 by the ESM Pilot’s demo-case De-and Remanufacturing. The project will develop, populate and operate a new concept of circular economy digital platform, with the aim to unlock new circular business models based on data-enhanced recovery and reuse of functions and materials from high value-added post-use products. Focus will be given to create trustable data-sharing mechanisms, preserving the confidentiality of business-critical data.

The project will adopt a cross-sectorial approach and addresses the issues of current information asymmetries among value-chain stakeholders. The project will be validated through six cross-sectorial pilots, further detailed in 20 use-cases covering five different European industrial sectors (automotive, renewable energy, electronics, textile, construction), and by additional pilots in new sectors, funded through an Open Call mechanism.

DigiPrime had its kick-off meeting in January 2020 and is planned to be ongoing until the 31 December 2023. The project has an overall budget of €19 257 130, the EU contribution being €15 963 173,50, stemming from Horizon 2020 (H2020-EU.2.1.1.).

Politecnico di Milano (Lombardy, Italy) is the coordinator of the project, which in total has 36 participants. Among the participants are partners from the Vanguard Initiative regions Lombardy, Baden-Württemberg, Basque country, Navarra, Flanders, Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes, Aragon and Catalunya. Partners are also found in Hungary, Greece, Sweden, Turkey, and Czechia.
