On 19th February the Asturias Regional Government organized an awareness-raising meeting in Oviedo, the Capital City of the Region. The event was led by the Regional Minister of Presidency, Mr. Guillermo Martínez and the Director General for Industry, Mr Luis Ángel Colunga and addressed to public and private entities of Asturias.
After presenting the steps already achieved throughout 2014 by the Vanguard initiative, Maria Jose Rodriguez Carbajal, Asturias Brussels Office Representative, highlighted the way forward and the opportunities for Asturian actors and Companies in the framework of this Interregional Cooperation Initiative.
There were also presentations from several regional experts from FAEN, Indalecio González, PRODINTEC, Paula Queipo and ITMA, Íñigo Felgueroso, who are already dealing with cooperation activities within the Vanguard Initiative.
Among the audience there were representatives from Companies, Clusters, Business Associations, R&D Centres, The Oviedo University and Public Entities involved in Regional Development.
Coming from a deep industrial tradition, Asturias has got important companies as part of its industrial tissue and is willing to seize opportunities of new emerging industries and technologies, as it is the case of the advanced manufacturing. With this aim, the Regional Government is leading and boosting the active participation of Asturian stakeholders in the activities jointly organized by the Vanguard Initiative Regions.
Asturias is already taking part in the three PILOT actions launched by several regions of the Vanguard Initiative on Marine Energy, 3D Printing, Efficient and Sustainable Manufacturing and is interested also in cooperating with other actions recently proposed on Bioeconomy and Nanotechnology.
