On 13 December 2021, the AI Pilot hosted its first Annual Plenary event. 

This was the second event organised by the Pilot after the successful Kick-Off Event organized on 17 May 2021. 

This time as well the public response was very good, with more than 100 stakeholders from all over Europe registered for the event, and about 70 active participants connected at the same time during the 3-hours online event. 

During the event, the Pilot coordinators presented the activities carried on during the first year of the presence of the Pilot in the Vanguard Initiative.  

It has been the occasion to present first results and ongoing activities also for the two approved democases of the Pilot, the AI DEMO LAB GRID and the AI for Resource Efficiency in Production.  

After a brilliant and interesting keynote speech by Mr. Philipe Mouttou, from THALES on AI - the solution to cope with European industrial challenges, two proposed new ideas for democases have been presented for the first time to the public: 

• Prof. Dr. Igor Škrjanc (University of Ljubljana) – iSens Intelligent soft sensors for online estimation of real-time unmeasurable process variables, process monitoring, fault detection, and control 

• Beatriz Viniegra (Civil UAV Initiative - CUI) – Artificial Intelligence Solutions for the Deployment of Unmanned Aerial Systems as a service
